Wow, I have never seen another one of these!
This is an original 1970's vintage hot pants pin on the original card. It has a label on the back of the pin which reads Made In Western Germany and also the back of the card reads the same.
The aqua and black swirled molded lucite pin measures 3 1/2" long.
The kilt style pin measures 2" long. Never worn and in excellent mint shape.
The card has some slight wear. Not big whoop.
Hot pants info from the net:
"According to the fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert , the term "hot pants" was coined by Women's Wear Daily (WWD) in 1970 to describe fashions innovated by the French ready-to-wear company Dorothée Bis. The WWD claim to have originated the term is also backed up by 1971 articles in The New York Times and the African-American magazine Jet."
