Victorian Book Chain Locket Necklace Gold Plate?

$85.00

Please excuse any reflections from my camera.

Victorian book chain locket necklace. This piece is a VERY pale gold color. Lots of photos too look through.

Some info on the book chain name origin:

"Most sources ascribe the style’s name to the shape of each link resembling the binding of a book. However, in her book Collecting Victorian Jewelry: Identification and Price Guide, jewelry historian Jeanenne Bell states, “It is my belief that it was referred to as a book chain because it had a flat back and could be taken off at night and placed as a bookmark in a Bible or other reading materials.”

The chain measures 23" long and 1/2" wide. The locket measures 3" long including the large jump ring. there appears to be some sort of maker mark on the interior, but it is illegible. A magnet does not stick to any part of this necklace. Both the locket and chain tested positive for 10k See 9th photo. Perhaps it is gold plate? Lock function in tact. It weighs 66 grams.

There is a small indent and a very tiny line indent on the locket. One of the links is a bit crimped. and one link has one TINY rough area on a corner. This link would not be against the skin. It does have some patina and or tarnish. I did not want to attempt cleaning it. Not sure how it will clean up. Sold as found. All sales are final.
