Antique WWI Camp Merritt hand colored silk Sweetheart pillow sham. It is is absolute gorgeous shape. Cotton fringe with red white and blue stitching. No missing fringe. No stains. The back is a solid blue and only has a few TINY raised areas, not worth mentioning. See 7th photo. For reference I included two photos of the camp and also a soldier. Photos are for reference only and not included in the sale.

Camp Merritt was a military base in Dumont and Cresskill, in Bergen County, New Jersey. It started construction in 1917 and was activated for use in World War I. It was the largest and could house 38 thousand troops. The first troops to arrive were from Company F, 22d Infantry, on 30 August 1917, followed by the 49th Infantry on 17 September.
