WWII Early 1940's US Navy White Cracker Jack 3Pc Sailor Uniform

$50.00

Vintage early 1940's US Navy white Cracker Jack 3 pc uniform. LOTS OF PHOTOS!

It is in nice shape considering the age with some marks and light stains. One large stain being under one arm. The pants have some light stains on back. Button fly front and laced tie back. Original cotton strings.

I provided photos and asked a military buff about this uniform, because I couldn't find another with the big printed "16s" on the back flap and hat. This was his reply:

1. White Jumper (Sailor’s Undress/Work Jumper)

The image shows a classic white Navy jumper with the square sailor collar (“middy blouse” style).

The large stenciled marking “16 S” is a laundry or issue marking, not a unit designation.

“16” typically refers to a bag or rack number used in shipboard laundry systems.

“S” likely indicates size (Small).

This style was commonly worn as part of the enlisted white uniform in the early 1940's.

2. White Navy Bucket Hat (Dixie Cup Variant / Work Hat)

The image shows a white cotton hat with the same stencil (“16 S”).

While not the formal “Dixie cup” (which is the flat, brimless white hat), this looks like a utility or work hat, sometimes used aboard ship or for specific duties. The matching stencil strongly suggests it was issued alongside the jumper to the same sailor.
